el primer capítulo del libro Piedras de Roger Caillois el autor hablaba de aquellas formaciones que son y seguirán siendo piedras, que no preceden a ninguna construcción, ninguna joya o ninguna extracción de algún mineral para un uso específico. “Han seguido siendo lo que eran, a veces más frescas y más legibles, pero siempre dentro de su verdad: ellas mismas y nada más” decía el autor. Con la elaboración en cerámica de Piedras el intento es parecido al de Caillois cuando revisaba todas esas rocas y las describía con exactitud, elaborando un relato desde sus amplios sentidos históricos, mitológicos y materiales. En este caso no son palabras las que describen y sustituyen al objeto, sino piezas de barro cocido, hechas con cuidado aún del modo más aleatorio posible. Copiar la forma de una piedra significa generar formas del todo inexactas de manera azarosa, a partir de movimientos, incisiones y deformaciones lo más inacuradas posibles. Éstas piedras sin embargo no son copias exactas de otras piedras sino piedras nuevas; combinan relieves, texturas y tamaños de distintas rocas reales. No obstante la realidad se escucha a través de su innegable presencia y materialidad, aunque sus esmaltes brillantes delaten que algunas no son piedras sino objetos que aluden a las piedras. Piedras como las de Caillois, nos sitúan en el presente más singular, hablándonos de la imposibilidad de retornar a un pasado y evidenciando, calladas, su propia existencia sin un fin ni un destino. Archivo del Museo de Antioquia En la inmensa roca del Peñol reza una gran letra G pintada de blanco sobre su granito negro. La acompaña el inicio de una U, también de dimensiones colosales. En 1988 el intento del alcalde de Guatapé y del propietario de la piedra de escribir el nombre del pueblo, terminó en un tercio de la segunda letra, cuando paralizaron el mural por pintarse encima de patrimonio cultural nacional. Hoy en día esas letras forman parte de uno de los atractivos turísticos de Colombia. El proyecto Guatapé usa esas letras pintadas para completarlas y generar una re-escritura del mensaje público. El paisaje continúa siendo una disputa física y simbólica en un país donde, desde la época de la colonización, ricos terratenientes, ejércitos, grupos insurgentes y contrainsurgentes, empresas privadas, mafias, o el gobierno litigan por la propiedad de las tierras.
